The
Texas Council of Faculty Senates is
a federation of
faculty senates, councils and assemblies at Texas public senior
colleges and universities. An independent organization, the Council
meets twice annually in Austin to share faculty governance experiences
and problems and to exchange ideas on higher education with members,
agents of state government, and others. All faculty governance
organizations at state senior colleges and universities are members of
the Texas Council of Faculty Senates. |

We
elect new officers at our spring business meeting after a
session on Saturday, February 27. Thus, we are calling for
nominations for the
following offices: President-Elect; Vice
President, Northeast Region; Vice
President, West Region.
The
term for a Vice President is two years. The
President-Elect commits to a four-year term, i.e. one year as P.E., two
years
as President and one year as Past President. Nominations can
be sent to jkotarba@uh.edu.
Nominations
will also be accepted from the floor. At the meeting, candidates for
election are allowed two people to speak on their behalf for two
minutes each.

The
Council's purposes include:
- maintaining
communication and coordinating among faculty governance organizations
from different institutions;
- assisting
faculty governance organizations in the
discharge of their responsibilities; and
- representing
faculty governance organizations,
primarily in matters of professional standards and academic
responsibility, to government and other bodies.
